Reusable Silica Gel Packets High Absorption

The core rule is to keep the temperature below 120°C and adjust the heating time according to the moisture absorption level.

Ⅰ.Steps for Reusing Silica Gel Desiccant Packs
The key to reuse is removing absorbed moisture. The two safe, efficient methods below enable quick regeneration:
1、Oven regeneration (most reliable): Arrange moisture-absorbed desiccant packs in a single layer on a baking tray, and bake at 90–120°C for 30–120 minutes (extend the time appropriately for large packs). Regeneration is complete when indicator-bead silica gel returns to its original color, or non-indicator silica gel granules feel dry and flow freely. Turn off the oven and let the packs cool completely before use to avoid reabsorbing moisture.
2、Sun drying/dehumidifier regeneration (low energy consumption): Place the packs in direct, dry sunlight for several hours until fully dry; or put them in an airtight container with a household dehumidifier for 12–24 hours to gently extract moisture.
Ⅱ.Safety Parameters (for Household Ovens)
Temperature
100°C ~ 120°C: The safest and most universal setting
Color-changing silica gel (blue/orange): ≤ 120°C (Excess heat will damage the indicator)
Clear regular silica gel: Max. 150°C (Not recommended to exceed, as granules may crack)
Strictly prohibit temperatures above 200°C: This will destroy the microporous structure, render the desiccant ineffective, and even cause pulverization.
Time (for a single, flat layer with a thickness <2cm)
Slightly damp: 1 ~ 1.5 hours
Clearly damp (discoloration/stickiness):2 ~ 3 hours
Tip: Stir the granules every 30 minutes for even heating.
Ⅲ.Safe Operating Procedures
Unpack
Remove the non-woven or plastic packaging first—only bake the silica gel granules (plastic will melt at high temperatures and release harmful substances).
Arrange on the tray
Use a metal, ceramic or glass tray, and spread the granules in a single layer (do not stack).
Bake
Preheat the oven to 100–120°C, place the tray inside, and start timing.
Leave the oven door slightly ajar (or turn on the convection fan) to facilitate moisture release.
Cool
After baking, turn off the power and let the silica gel cool naturally to room temperature inside the oven before taking it out.
(Hot silica gel will rapidly reabsorb moisture when exposed to cool air, making the baking process futile.)
Ⅳ.Check for complete regeneration
1、Color-changing silica gel: Returns to its original color (blue→blue, orange→orange, pink→blue/orange)
2、Clear silica gel: Granules are dry, non-sticky and non-caking.
Ⅴ.Safety Taboos
1、Do not use a microwave oven (Risk of local overheating, cracking and fire in household models)
2、Do not use an air fryer (Difficult to control temperature; easy to exceed 200°C)
3、Do not bake the desiccant on the same tray as food (Regenerated desiccant is not recommended for food use)
4、Do not subject the desiccant to prolonged high temperature in a single baking session (Prone to cracking and ineffectiveness)

Ⅵ.Reusable Times
1、Silica gel desiccants can generally be reused 3 to 5 times, with moisture absorption capacity decreasing each time.
2、Discard and replace the desiccant if: a large amount of pulverization/cracking occurs, or the granules remain sticky after baking.
Ⅶ.Summary (The Safest Household Regeneration Method)
Bake at 100°C~120°C in a single, flat layer for 1~3 hours (adjust based on color/dryness), and use only after full cooling.
